New Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Target
The target announced by the Japanese government in Warsaw is a provisional one. My understanding is that an official reduction rate will be decided based upon Japan's national growth strategy, the balance between energy supply and demand, as well as the best mix of power sources, not to speak of technological breakthrough to make them all true. Japan needs to continue contributing to the worldwide reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the most effective action, namely further development of environment and energy technologies. Significant reduction of global greenhouse gas emissions can be attained by spreading Japan's front-end technologies in steel manufacturing and thermal power generation over to China, India and the United States.
Ambassador Kennedy
Ambassador Kennedy, who Secretary of State John Kerry mentioned has a close relationship with the White House, is the right person to fasten ties between our two solid allied nations. I just cannot wait to witness a masterstroke of diplomacy here in Japan.
